Knepp Rewilding

Knepp Estate & Tom Stuart Smith

Project:

Graduate Landscapes, in collaboration with Knepp Estate and Tom Stuart Smith Garden Design Studio, constructed the “Dog Walkers Car Park and Kitchen” to enhance visitor engagement with the Knepp Wilding Project. This project emphasizes sustainable practices, reusing materials, and promoting ecological health to fit well with Knepp Estate’s ethos. Our work has transformed the area into a functional, eco-friendly space that aligns with Knepp’s pioneering rewilding efforts, showcasing innovative green building practices and a commitment to environmental stewardship

The project at Knepp Wilding was designed and managed by Tom Stuart Smith Studio in collaboration with ourselves (GL) and Knepp Estate, ensuring environmental performance was prioritized. We had regular meetings onsite and worked to high standards to get the work finished on time and to a quality finish.   Graduate Landscapes also coordinated with other contractors working on the farm shop and café renovations, emphasizing teamwork to meet the tight schedule for opening. The project utilized sustainable practices such as reusing site materials and incorporating recycled elements, which in itself proved challenging at times.

Dunsfold Aerodrome

Client:

NATTA

Value:

£400k

Project:

Graduate Landscapes was selected to landscape the entrance roads of the upcoming development at Dunsfold Aerodrome, a project more than 20 years in the making. Our work included the installation of over 200 Acer freemanii ‘Autumn Blaze’ trees, planted in specialist tree pits designed with aggregates and engineered soils to ensure long-term health and stability.

Alongside this, we established extensive wildflower meadows and installed stock fencing to protect more than 10,000 newly planted whips. These enhancements will create a visually striking and ecologically rich approach to the development, setting the tone for a high-quality landscape as the project moves forward.

The choice of Acer trees also serves as a tribute to the aerodrome’s military history, honouring the Canadian soldiers who played a key role in its construction during World War II.
